The Produce of a Hurricane

I am not sure if Isaac was ever really announced as a hurricane or not; however, we are sure benefitting from the storm.  It has been raining since before I got up this morning around 3 a.m. and before.

It is a wonderful blessing.  I pray the people along the coast were not harmed, and that everyone benefitting from the rain realizes the blessing that it is to so many.

Thanksgiving belongs to the One who gives all good things to us.  He is the Lord of all.  Thank YOU LORD.

The following is a post from Town and Country Gardening blog I found of interest, and really quite sad.

Town & Country Gardening

Americans are tossing away 40 percent of their food essentially every other piece of food that crosses our plate or the equivalent of $2,275 a year for a family of four, according to a new report.

Food waste has swelled by 50 percent since the 1970s in this country. A total $165 billion annually in leftovers gets trashed by homeowners and in unsold or unused perishables or scraps dumped by grocers or restaurants, according to research compiled by the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Given the drought, rising food prices, and increased food demands we’re looking at as the population grows, having a more efficient food system is going to be a critical for Americans survival.

Trimming waste in the U.S. food supply by only 15 percent would save enough edible goods to feed 25 million Americans annually.

I can see Green…

It has been some time since I looked out across the yard and saw green in it with the exception of the new trees growing.  The grass is brown.

Last night we were blessed to receive about one half inch of rain.  As I was walking around the yard this morning I could not help but notice green sprigs of grass coming up.  I had not even seen that in the previous one half inch rain we received a couple of weeks ago.  Today green sprigs of grass are shooting up all over the yard.

We still need more rain, but I am so thankful for the rain we received.  Thank YOU Lord Jesus.

Blessed with some Rain

As I sit here at the computer writing; it is raining; with some lightening and thunder. It sounds almost like Spring.

Yesterday evening  I was watching the evening news, and I heard a noise I had not heard in a while.  It was the sound of rain hitting our house.  It was coming down pretty hard, and it came down for at least five minutes, and maybe ten.  I looked out the window, and it only appeared to be raining on us and to the North of us.  There is still a need for a good general rain, and it will come.

It was a blessing and a reminder that there is more coming.

We must remember that rain is a blessing from our Creator; and it is given for our crops, for our health, and reminder of the wonderful graces that He gives us each day.

Thank YOU LORD.
