The Demise of Twenty Twelve

It sounds rather glum does it not?  “The demise” that is.  It does however make way for a New Year.

I think most of us like “New” things.  We like new cars, trucks.  New homes.  New clothes.  We especially like new underwear; as opposed to used by someone else anyway. 🙂  Just sayin’  We like things to be NEW.

Well we are all about to start a New Year.  Some places in the world like Australia have already had Midnight December 31, 2012.  For Central Standard Time that hour will not be here until a little under 7 hours from now.

It is a wonderful chance to begin again.  For some that will mean starting new resolutions, new promises, maybe brand new lies.

I pray all will use this “Newness” with wisdom and grace.

I also pray that in the past year that I have learned a bit more wisdom and that I have learned to practice the wise things I have learned.  I pray that I will be more compassionate toward those who need compassion; that I can weep with those who weep; rejoice with those who rejoice; and mourn with and for those who mourn.

The world, according to some was supposed to end in 2012; December 21 at 5:11 or 5:12 a.m.  As we can all see we are still here.  The world, by the way will go on for more years.  I believe I have it on the Highest Authority that it will continue for many more years.

Let us learn to use the time we have; the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries, and millenniums as our Creator gives them to us.  I know there is none of us who live a millennium; but if we are in God’s hands, and blessed by Him; our families will continue, and our posterity will continue.  Just a thought.

If we  turn our lives over to the One who was crucified, buried and was raised again to life; we have the promise to live forever.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERY ONE.

Eagles at War???

This past Wednesday morning as I was driving home, and along the bluff road to our house there were several bald eagles perching in trees.  I drove a little ways, and suddenly one flew up from just beside me.  It seemed that it was standing on the steep bank, and my driving by it caused it to take flight through the trees.

What I found fascinating was that eagle made a half circle around in front of me, landed in a tree branch just over our road, and attacked another eagle sitting in that tree.  As I drove under the tree they both took flight, one after the other; but when the last one left it flew high, then, made a dive bomb attack on the other one.

A few minutes later I stepped on on the front porch or our house, and though I could not see the eagles I heard the screeching speech of an eagle.  It was a continued piercing screeching sound, clearly that of an eagle.  They were on the other side of the hill that rises slowly to the South of our home.

They are majestic birds.  Wonderful to watch.  I had never seen them behave that way before.  That is why I have the question marks on the end of the title.  It may have just been a domestic dispute.  It may have been a dominance dispute as well.  It is interesting here on the banks of Flat Creek.

Ducks on the Creek

The place where our dinner table is set is where we can have our patio curtain drawn back and see a very large portion of our backyard.  For the past two morning’s Madge and I have been eating our breakfast, looking through the door to the frost on the ground, watching the dogs at times; and then, too I have witnessed ducks swimming and playing down on the rapids in the creek.

They would get in the rapid part of the creek, float down for a way, the fly back up to the still water, float, and get into the rapid, float down some more, then again fly back up to the still water.  It is like they were just entertaining themselves, having fun.  Madge and I were entertained watching them.

Flat Creek holds a wealth of entertainment for those who know what real entertainment is.  For others you can be bored if you want.  Though I do sorrow much for the parents and loved ones of the children and teachers who were murdered by the Connecticut Coward; and I also sorrow for his parents and family.  I will not be logged down with the burden of the immoral, indecent, murderous acts of anyone.  Ducks on the Creek is great relief from the continued cacophonous sounds of the News media going on and on about any tragedy.

I will pray for the the families; and still watch the Ducks on the Creek; as well as Eagles soaring through the air.

Some Additions

I have recently added some new posts to this blog.  They were written in years past, so I post them as such, on the date they were posted on another blog, and another hosts.  I am planning on deleting that other blog; after I get all moved here.

This blog was started in June 13, 2011.  Though it has not had many readers I am thankful for each one who comes here, and I am praying for you.  Thanks for coming by.
