The Month of Thanksgiving – Fourteenth

I am thankful today for my third born child, who is our firstborn son.

Timothy named after me for his first name, and my Dad Mike for his middle name. He was born in Springfield, MO in 1979.  It was such a joy for Madge and I to be blessed with a son.

Timothy has a wonderful wife Sarah, and they have four wonderful children; Naomi, Josiah, Eli, and Lydia. Timothy is the pastor of the Baptist Church in Stott’s City, MO, and is employed by Baptist Hill Campgrounds near Mount Vernon.

Timothy, Sarah, and our grandkids are truly a blessing from the Lord and we are thankful for them, their love for each other and their children; and also the love and respect they give Madge and me.

Thankful from the banks of Flat Creek,

The Month of Thanksgiving – 5

Today I want to express my thanks to the Creator who brought my wife Madge into my life. We have been blessed with 5 great children, and their spouses; Charity and her husband Paul; Monica and her husband Samson; Timothy and his wife Sarah L.; Philip and his wife Sarah J.; James and his wife Amber.

We have been blessed as well with twelve [12] grandchildren; four boys, and eight girls.

I am thankful that Madge and I have been together for forty six years plus some, and every day of each year was a learning experience, and a blessing for which I must thank my God and Savior.  Thank You Lord Jesus.

Thankful from the banks of Flat Creek,

Something Unusual

Here we are in the first full week of August. The usual August is hot, muggy and dry, many years drought conditions.

This first week, and into the next we  have had fairly cool temps with some exceptions, and rain. Up until a few minutes ago we have been getting rain all day.  Thank the LORD, our Creator and Savior for giving this moisture for crops, hayfields, and yards.

Now let us be grateful for every day.  The rain is a blessing and so is the sunshine; even when it is hot and muggy.

That is how it is on the banks of Flat Creek today,

In the Year 2019

I pray all had a great, and thankful Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas; and truly a Happy New Year for at least the first two days of it any way.

I perceive myself to be a happy man, a happy married man to my wife of 45 plus years, a happy father of five, and the five of their spouses; also a happy grandfather 0f twelve.  I see that as a very happy man.  What I am is a very blessed man.

The blessings of happiness are from our Creator who has made all things.  By the very word of His mouth He has made all things that are.  The seen and the unseen were made by Him.  Without Him there was nothing made that is made.

To the Creator I give thanks and praise and glory and honor.

I am looking forward to this New Year.  It is a blessing from Him who has given it to us.

I do not believe God is well pleased when people are always in conflict with one another.  Tale telling, backbiting, gossiping, lying about another, being a false witness – what a shame.  According to some wiser men and women than myself we are not supposed make others feel “shamed”.  My thought on that is Shame, Shame, Shame on you.  If there was more shame for our actions, our unwise, even evil words there just might be less of it.

I am a Christian.  Not because I am a good person, but because a Man went to a cross and died for me, was buried carrying my shame and sin away, then arose from that grave to save me from my sin and evil life, and way of life.  He delivered me from condemnation and death.  He changed my life and gave me eternal life through Him.  He is my God and Savior.  He is also the Savior of the world.

Do you want to change the world for the glory of God?  Then go to Jesus the Christ, the Son of God who is God the Son.

Make the year of 2019 the most blessed and happy and prosperous you have ever experienced. In the word “Prosperous” I do not mean materially necessarily.

Independence Day on the Banks of Flat Creek

I took a couple of pictures while celebrating Independence Day yesterday.  The first is up above. It is the header picture.

Now I share with you the second…

Many of the family members had already left.  As families go; they had others places to go, and other things to do.

It is so good to live in such a God Blessed Nation.

Let it Rain

I was planning on doing some mowing today.  The very back of our yard that is beside the Creek needs mowing.

I will not curse the rain though. It is a much needed blessing.  There are places in the U. S. of A. that needs good rains.  Even in those places where they live by irrigation they still need much rainfall, and snowfall that only comes from the Creator to sustain their sources of irrigation water.

The rain we are getting at this moment is intermittent showers; but much appreciated.  If the sun would shine in a few moments for the rest of the day, then I would do some mowing.  If not: Thank you LORD for the rain.

That is my story on the banks of Flat Creek.

Day of Sunshine

Since the last few days; at least since Friday the 11th of October; we have had mostly clouds and rain.  We were blessed to receive almost seven inches of the blessing of heaven.  The rain even caused the Creek to rise to the brink, and overflow in some of the lower places.

It is good to see the sunshine down upon us.  God reminds us that His blessings continue, and we are to bless His name too.

Enjoy the sunshine today, and be blessed.

Some Late Summer Rain

It is the latter part of Summer when you get to Labor Day weekend.  September 1 is just about a day away.

When got up this morning there was thunder in the distance, and as I went outside to investigate I saw the lightening; but there was yet, no rain.  We need the rain.  Plants are drying up without water.  The grass is brown or turning brown from the intense heat we have had for several days.  Things just do not live for long without water.

Just a few minutes ago, around 6 a.m. we received a bit of rain.  It was a grand blessing to hear the pebbled dew of heaven falling on our roof top.

The blessing for today.  One blessing for today is the rainfall we have received.

Blessed with Rain

As I sit at my computer this morning the lightening is flashing, the thunder is rolling, and rain is falling.  We received the blessing Saturday evening too; and received about one inch of the blessing.  During a rain break, I went and checked my bucket and there was another inch plus a quarter in the bucket.

Saturday July 20 made 5 weeks since we had received any significant rainfall.  Now the drought has been broken.

Now the rain is continuing.  There is only One who is worthy of thanks, and that is our Creator; our Maker; our Savior, and our friend.  Thank YOU Lord.

Needing Water

Well we were blessed in the Spring with a good amount of rainfall.  The Creek came up a bit, got washed out, cleaned up, but never rose out of its banks.

Now, however, is a very different story.  We have not had any significant rainfall for several days now.  It was June 15 when it last rained.  We had a great rain amounting to 2+ inches.  It was a blessing.

This morning before the sun was over the hill I went out and watered everything with a garden hose.  It is not as good as rain, but it does provide moisture for the plants.  I hope I did not wait too long to water  the trees I planted a year ago last Spring.

Praying for rain.  Thank you Lord for sending it.

We The People…

Well!  The majority of the people have spoken; and it is quite clear what our Country stands for.  We stand for same sex marriage.  We stand for abortion for any cause; as long as the woman has the right to choose.  We stand for a redistribution of wealth.  We stand for all citizens to be disarmed.  We stand against the freedom of religion; and the freedom of speech.

The United States of America was founded on Biblical, Judeo/Christian principles, and we have been greatly blessed over the 236 years of being a Nation.  We have had an hedge around us by the hand of God; protecting us, keeping us, guiding us.  Now we are a “Progressive” (the liberal with a new name) Nation; under the protection of our government and its President.

Now, let us watch and see what the “Progressives” (the old liberal mentality) will do, and will not do.

In the mean time… I plan on living my life as I have been, with the exception of becoming a bolder, more confident Christian – a faithful follower of Jesus Christ – and speaking, for Christ, praying for our President; for his salvation, for his eyes to be opened concerning the way he leads this nation.  I will be praying for the Christians of the USA to put the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) back on, and stand with the holy Word of God in our hands and within our hearts.

Remember Christian.  The battle is not over until we hear Jesus say, “Come up here.”

Refreshing Rains Have Come

I guess you could say that it is that time of year for rains to come.  Nothing, however, is for certain here in the Southwest Missouri Ozarks area.  We have, however, been blessed by God with some nice, easy rainfall.  Easy meaning there has not been a whole lot of runoff which would be filling creeks, and ponds; which we also need.

I finally got away from Flat Creek for a while  yesterday.  My wife and I went to the Queen City of the Ozarks – Springfield, Missouri for two of our grand children’s Birthday parties.  Jonathan, our oldest grandson turned 14; and Caitlyn is about 9, I think.  Of my grandkids ages I am not real certain with some of them.  I mean when you have been blessed with 12 of them… you know what I mean.

Anyway, it is good to get the rain.  We were driving down Interstate 44 yesterday as it was coming down pretty good there.  I am thankful for the rain.  There is more on the way.

The Produce of a Hurricane

I am not sure if Isaac was ever really announced as a hurricane or not; however, we are sure benefitting from the storm.  It has been raining since before I got up this morning around 3 a.m. and before.

It is a wonderful blessing.  I pray the people along the coast were not harmed, and that everyone benefitting from the rain realizes the blessing that it is to so many.

Thanksgiving belongs to the One who gives all good things to us.  He is the Lord of all.  Thank YOU LORD.

Blessed with some Rain

As I sit here at the computer writing; it is raining; with some lightening and thunder. It sounds almost like Spring.

Yesterday evening  I was watching the evening news, and I heard a noise I had not heard in a while.  It was the sound of rain hitting our house.  It was coming down pretty hard, and it came down for at least five minutes, and maybe ten.  I looked out the window, and it only appeared to be raining on us and to the North of us.  There is still a need for a good general rain, and it will come.

It was a blessing and a reminder that there is more coming.

We must remember that rain is a blessing from our Creator; and it is given for our crops, for our health, and reminder of the wonderful graces that He gives us each day.

Thank YOU LORD.

What a Difference

It must be that we live in a low valley, and next to the Creek.  It must be what makes the temp here cooler than say, like in Cassville.  According to AccuWeather the temp in Cassville was 51 when I got online this morning; our thermometer right now at 4:47 a.m. reads 38 degrees.  BRRRRRRRR.

My that is going to feel brisk and cool this morning after just a few days go temps at 100 and above.  It will be nice for a change.  We do, however, still need some rain.  Especially since we moved our dirt mound yesterday.  As the wind was blowing we could see little dirt devils taking the dirt away.

We filled holes and low spots in the yard; what used to be a pasture, now our yard is beginning to look like a yard, but now has dirt spots which need some seed and grass growing.  It will not grow, though without water.

I thank my friend Dennis for bringing his skid steer and taking all his Labor Day to labor in moving all that dirt.

I thank GOD my Lord and Master for every good and righteous and perfect gift.

Cool on the banks of Flat Creek.

Getting Some Rain

Along about late Saturday evening we got some rain.  I think it rained a little off and on through early Sunday morning.  It rained between 4:30 and 5 a.m. coming a  pretty good shower.  Lord, I thank YOU for sending the rain, and bringing its wonderful blessings.  YOU are a blessing.

It was raining a bit when I got up this morning too.  It stopped, but looks like it could just start back up any time.  We do need more.

Maybe if we followed the words of God, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus  concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) He would give us what we need in His own timing.

Thank God for the sunshine and the rain.

From the banks of Flat Creek.
