Let Me Tell You About My Mornings

My mornings are not important to anyone else.  I realize that; but to let you know what I do as a pastor, and a School Bus driver of the mornings – Here goes…

My alarm goes off around 3:15 a.m.  I get up do the necessary things before dressing, then proceed to make some coffee.  I get my computer turned on.  Then I take my Bible, my journal and set down at the kitchen/dining table; and I read a portion of Scripture (usually 2 – 5 chapters) to hear what God has to say to me today.  I spend a few minutes speaking to Him as well.

By the time I am through with my Bible reading the coffee is ready and I pour me a cup, mixed with a packet of Swiss Miss Dark Chocolate Sensations hot chocolate mix.  Yum.  Then I begin writing in my journal.  You can read some of what I wrote in today’s writing at this link

After I have written in my paper notebook, journal; I come and do some post for our Church blog, and my Bible Study blog called BROKEN PIECES.  By the time I am finished with that it is about time for me to leave for the bus garage.  I do watch a bit of Fox and Friends before leaving, and clean up my coffee pot.

I leave the house around 5:15 a.m. arrive at the bus garage around 5:45, pre-trip my bus, and leave on my route around 6:05 a.m.  It is an amazing drive.  I get to drive approximately 25 minutes before I pick up my first stop.  From then on into school there is much talk, screaming sometimes, laughter, playing [not supposed to]; no more quiet time.

I arrive at he High School drop off about 7:45 a.m. then the Elementary about 7:50 a.m.  Then, that part of my morning is over.  Following the route this morning I went with some of the other drivers to the Primary Cafeteria for biscuits and gravy for breakfast; instead of coming home.

When I get home I check emails, facebook, my blogs for comments and such; but most of all I try and spend the time preparing sermons for Sunday mornings and evenings.

Today I am scheduled for an activity trip taking the soccer team to Springfield, MO.  I am blessed to be doing a work which I thoroughly enjoy; being a pastor, and a school bus driver too.

A Blessed and sunny day along the banks of Flat Creek.

The Creek is Still Rolling

Flat Creek is still rolling and so am I.  I have even continued to keep up my journal since the end of August.  I think I have missed one day.  I cannot say that it would not bore you to tears, or put you to sleep though.  My journal writing is usually only about one hand written page each day.  I tell the temp outside; what my daily Bible reading is, the scheduled reading I give our church, and what verses I will possibly post on the church blog.

The six puppies are really growing.  They will be six weeks old Sunday/Monday [December 4&5].  One of the males I have called “Butch”.  He acts like Butch; the one I had to put down the other day.  He comes wagging his little tail; of course the other five do as well, but he does it in a different way; looking a small bit like Butch, yet much smaller.  He even almost appears to be the runt of the litter.

I have one of the females named “Spot” because she is black and white with a black spot.  One is named “Fuzzy”, because her hair stands out fuzzier than the others.  One of the males I call “Spoiled”, because he likes to be cuddled; and just soaks it up.  I am trying not to get too attached to them. 🙂

They would be free to a good home.  They would make a good Christmas gift for your children or grand children; even great grand children.  Maybe even someone you do not like?  Just a thought.

Email me if you are interested; and I will get back with you.

Flat Creek is still rolling right along.  Just as it has for thousands of years; and will continue many more, as the Creator ordains it so.

My Journal

For anyone who may be even the slight bit interested I am still keeping my journal.  I have written in it every day with about two hand written pages.  A few years ago I thought I would keep my journal on the computer and store it on floppy disc.  That is when I started losing heart to journal.

This time back to it I am doing my hand writing on paper, and it just seems to be a bit more personal.  It could be that doing my Bible study on the computer has caused me to lose touch with the Lord in some way.  That is something I may be changing soon.

Going back to a book in my hands, paper to write on the desk, and a mind focused on the words of the Lord; that just seems that it might be more of what the Lord intended.  For me it seems the computer takes away much of the personal touch with my Savior.

I will still use the computer for a quick reference on the concordance and such, and other research, but the rest I will do the old fashioned way.  Trust the Holy Spirit, use Scripture, and pray.

Just another hillbilly writing from the banks of Flat Creek.

Writing a Journal

I guess this is my way of committing myself to doing it again.  Several years ago I committed to writing a journal and in the past five years or so I have wondered away from it. I think it had a dramatic impact on my walk with God, and that is one of the things I wrote in the journal this morning.

As of today, August 30, 2011 I am committing once again to keeping a daily journal of my daily walk, events and challenges of life.  There may be days I post some of it here; and other days I will not.  I will be writing the journal after I finish my daily reading of Scripture; and will be reflecting on the previous day, and thinking of, or planning the day ahead.

One thing I cannot get away from and that is that God is marvelous, gracious, and full of mercy.  I am very glad He is.

Thank the Creator for His blessings of wife, family, friends, and friends I have not met yet.

From the banks of Flat Creek.  I am…
