Birthday Party for Two

Madge and I attended a Birthday party for two of our grandsons.  The party was at a park in Mount Vernon, MO. which is located behind the Mount Vernon Golf Course on highway 174 North and East of town.

I have been to the golf course a couple of times, knew where it was, and how to get there; but never knew there was a public park behind it.  You even need to drive through the golf course parking lot to get to the park.  Odd?  I never saw that done before.

You can even play frisbe golf in the park.

Our grandsons Josiah and Eli had a great time.  It was wonderful being there even with the heat.  Josiah will turn 11 on August 1, and Eli turned 6 on June 30.  I think it is a great use of resources to combine two birthdays together to celebrate their years of life.

I am glad that I had a part, even if it was just being present.  I even got to push Eli in the swings.  “Higher, Higher” he would say.  After he would get so high he got nervous about it he would say, “Stop pushing now”, or just “Stop”.  Funny.

It was great to get back home, though it was around 10 p.m.  I took a shower and went to bed.  The morning was wonderful.  The day is too.

Mount Vernon November

Our family got together today, at least most of us, at our son and his wife’s home in Mount Vernon, MO.  They invited us to a cook out, and with me doing the cooking on the grill.  That is enjoyable, and the food is usually very good.

James and Amber had us all to their home.  This is their new home, because their old one was destroyed in the May 22 tornado which hit and destroyed most of Joplin, MO.  God protected and blessed them, and continues to do so through this terrible tragedy.

All our family was there with the exception of Philip and his wife Sarah Joyce who live in Booneville, AR.  and Paul, our oldest daughter Charity’s husband.  It was a great time to get together.

The wind was blustery, and made things a bit cool at times, but we had an enjoyable day and afternoon.

We love you James and Amber, and all the rest of you too.  So proud of you all.

What a Summer

It has been a different kind of Summer for me.  I have not accomplished near what I have wanted to concerning the old house and getting it ready to live in, and mostly due to be ill.  I have decided that the illness has been caused by the dust of the old house; at least much of it.
My wife (Madge) and I have decided to buy a double wide manufactured home, and set down on the old farm stead.  We are waiting now for everything to get approved and such.
It won ‘t be too long and school will begin again.  I have had my physical and passed it and looking forward to the new School year.
It has been a great Summer in that we were able to go to both Youth Camp and Children’s Camp at Baptist Hill in Mount Vernon, MO.  We were blessed to serve the CGL’s and campers as cooks and kitchen help.  It has been our privilege to do so for the past four years.  We hear that there were 24 children who trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in Children’s Camp, and a few less than that at Youth Camp with other decisions being made as well.
If things go well I may use this site as a daily log of driving the bus during the School year.  If I don’t every day, maybe I can at least once per week.
My wife and I celebrated our 37th Wedding Anniversary just last week.  We went and spent two days in Branson.  Nice place to visit, especially in November through February, but rather busy in July.  Really Branson is a great place to visit for family relaxation and fun.
See you next time.  Continue to have a great Summer.
