The Month of Thanksgiving – Sixteenth

Today I am thankful for our fifth born child, third born son James. James was born in November of 1982 in Aurora, MO.

James is married to the lovely Amber. They live in Mount Vernon, MO. and they are happy pet owners to a couple of big dogs.

James and Amber for for a business in Aurora taking care of other people, and their needs. James is a loving, kind, tender, and caring man; as is Amber.

James knows the Lord as does Amber.  I thank the Lord for James everyday; and I am very thankful that the good Lord gave him to us.

Thankful from the banks of Flat Creek,

Predictions

I am not a fan of prognostications; especially early ones.  A farmer cannot make a decision to not plow the ground because it looks like it might rain; or even if the weather people have predicted that it is going to rain.  The field would never get plowed.

What set this off I guess is because our School for which I drive a School bus, cancelled school today with only rain falling; upon the prediction of ice and snow on the way.

I know it is a safety issue.  We do  not want to get caught on the road with hundreds of children on the school bus, with a possibility of sliding into the ditch or another vehicle.

I will applaud their decision when the ice and snow, or snow and ice come.  I just do not like making decisions like this based on the predictions of faulty people, and their man made equipment.

It was probably a good decision, but that is yet to be seen.  From the banks of Flat Creek.

The Verdict is In

And Justice has been served.  If the Grand Jury would have decided with public pressure, or emotion there would not be justice.

They did however base their decision on the evidence and testimony they were given.  Justice has been served.

Let us all be part of the human race, grieve with the family who tragically lost a son; and grieve with the city of Ferguson, MO for the trials they have experienced by mob rule, and the great injustices done to local businesses and people.

Let us also pray for the peace of all who are not at peace.

Thanksgiving 2012

There is a lot of people giving thanks; and many who are not thankful to the right one.  Then there are also some who are not thankful at all, but spend their lives complaining about their life’s situation.  Is there any difference in not being thankful and being thankful, but for the wrong reason?

To that question I must answer; I do think there is a difference.  I would, however, rather be around a thankful person than a complainer; no matter why they are thankful.  Thankfulness affects your life for good, and the lives of others.

There is so much more to being thankful when you are thankful to the only One who is worthy of Thanksgiving; and that is our GOD and Saviour Jesus Christ.  He has given us all things to enjoy, be blessed, and give glory to Him.  We could not take the next breath of air, except He gives it to us; or take the next step, or receive the next beat of our heart, except by His mercy.

Our family met at my parents home on Thanksgiving Day.  My sisters, Jane, Judy, and Jill with their husbands – minus one, their children and grandchildren – a few; and my brother Steven, his wife Deanna, their two sons and two grandsons.  I am not sure of the number present, but it was above 40 I am pretty sure of that.  We had a banquet with turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, ham, deviled eggs, cheesy cabbage, hot rolls, and for dessert pumpkin pie, chocolate pie, and others galore.

I am so thankful for my family.  God has blessed us beyond what we are deserving of, and that is because of His mercy and grace.

Thank YOU Lord for your mercy, grace, salvation and all the bountiful blessings YOU have provided us.

Auctions and Sales

I attended an auction just outside of Clever yesterday.  My mother called me around 7:30 or so while I was out tending our dogs, and told me that a couple who has been there long time friends was having an auction, and would I take them?  At first I said “No!  I have plenty to get done today”, but about an hour later I called her back and told her I would take them.

The drive up there was in much needed rain; and it rained and it rained and it kept on raining.  By the end of the day we had pools of water, running water, my grass seed getting plenty of water.  Yippppppeeee!!!  Anyway; back to the sale.  They had a few items I wanted to bid on.  I never even got in a bid because they started out higher than I could afford or wanted to pay.  I am happy for the couple having the sale; it was good for them.

There is something I have noticed about a lot of auctions I have attended.  People lose their heads at these things.  They end up paying the same price or more for a used item than they could buy a new one for in some cases.

I am sure thankful for the rain.  The grass is starting to green up again.  That is a good thing.

Thank YOU Lord for sending water to the earth and nourishment for it.

From along the banks of Flat Creek.
