Jesus and Politics 2019

There is a whole lot of politics going on. You know the idea, and ask the question, “How do you know a politician is lying?” The answer is… I will let you know a little later. That almost sounds like a good answer. That is not it, however.

How should Christians who are ‘followers of Jesus Christ’ be involved in politics, or should they be? Jesus said, “Render to Caesar, the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s”. It seems you could get a clear and distinct answer of being involved from that statement, “Render to Caesar…” When we are citizens of a Nation which has a democratic process of elections, then, we should participate in those elections and let our vote and voice be heard.

Should Christians try to get moral legislation for that Nation? That may be a little stickier. As Christians we understand that morality, nor legislation is going to change a nation. A nation changes as the hearts of the people are changed. That works in the positive and the negative. If the life changing message of the Gospel of Jesus is received by the populace, then there will be a positive change of hearts. If, on the other hand, society begins to turn more and more away from God, His Word, equal justice for all, giving of their resources to others in need, and Biblical/Christian morality, then there is the negative change and evil will increase. The streets will be filled with crimes such as street shootings, school shootings, robberies – banks, convenience stores, jewelry stores, churches, etc. Husbands killing wives, wives killing husbands, parents killing children, children killing parents, co-habitations (couples living together without being married), and all kinds of immoral sexual behavior, and that includes the U. S. Supreme Court approved same sex marriage. Though approved by men, to God it is still an abomination.

Christians must have a voice, and that voice is in their church buildings and in the voting booth, and in the public forum. Christian, you have the right to vote: Use it or lose it.

I was behind a car from New Hampshire on the afternoon of Friday October 27, 2006 in Cassville, Missouri. I noticed something about that plate and the motto on the plate. It read, “LIVE FREE, OR DIE”. I thought when I saw it, “Now who ever came up with that one had a bold thought”. As long as you and I have the freedom to vote we have a say in the way things are run in our country.

If we get to trusting in the political process to save our Nation we are doomed. In the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ it speaks of a woman riding a beast. That woman represents religion, and the beast is – I believe – democratic government. I must say, has not religion in recent years been riding the beast of democracy? What follows is not pretty.

The Gospel of Jesus will change hearts and lives. No political process can do that. Legislate as you will.

Now to answer the question at the beginning. Their mouth is moving. But, you probably already knew that.

Remembering a Patriot and a Man of God

This is from May 16, 2007

A Patriot Has Died

The man was not involved in the political process until he heard of the legalization of abortion. He thought of the millions of unborn children who would be slaughtered by those whose main objective was not women’s rights, but profits.
Dr. Jerry Falwell was a man who first of all loved the LORD God, loved his family, and loved his Country. He was motivated to help point this nation back to its Judeo/Christian roots.
I had grown not to agree with all that the “Religious Right” was doing. It just seems that many there believed that the answer for all our moral ills was in the political process. My belief is that the answer for the Country’s moral ills is a change of heart in people through the cross of Jesus Christ. I know and believe that Dr. Falwell believed that too, but he wanted people to be motivated to get out and vote their Christian conscience. And, I have, as well as many others.
Those who know Dr. Falwell would be able to say that he was a genuine Christian man. He sincerely believed and with conviction that what he has done was for God, Country, and his fellow American.
There is no doubt in my mind that Jerry Falwell loved God, His Word, His people, His Church and people in general. It seems that all that he did he believed he was right in doing so, until he found it to be wrong.
Keep his family, Thomas Road Baptist Church, and Liberty University in your prayers.

Being A Patriot

From April 26, 2007.

Being A Patriot

Sometimes I think we misunderstand what a patriot really is. A true patriot is not someone who never finds fault with their country or their leaders, including the President. A patriot is someone who will stand with the leaders during times of turmoil, similar to those we are in now.
There is one thing for sure concerning our President, and I am not always in agreement with him. I believe him to be a strong individual who will stand his ground when he believes he is right about something. He appears to have convictions about things. He is not led by the opinion polls, and does not lend and ear to the wind, and make decisions based on which ever way it blows. I like that in President Bush.
There are many who are trying to malign him, and accuse him of playing politics. He has nowhere to go. He has reached the highest office in our country. How can he be trying to play politics. The one’s who are playing politics are the ones who accuse him of it.
Being a patriot is about loving your country, praying for its leaders; even those you disagree with, and do not like; and supporting their decisions when they do not conflict with your own person convictions of God, holiness, righteousness, and good, but you endeavor to change things through prayer, and discourse, rather than violence. Other people’s opinions, and lives are at stake.
I do not know if what I have written here makes a whole lot of sense to you, the reader, but it does to me. A patriot is also someone who will love his country enough to speak out when something is not right. We must do that. We can do it and still be a citizen. At least for the time being.
Our trust must be in the LORD God who has made all things. He has put the USA in place for a time like this. Let’s first be faithful to Him.

We The People…

Well!  The majority of the people have spoken; and it is quite clear what our Country stands for.  We stand for same sex marriage.  We stand for abortion for any cause; as long as the woman has the right to choose.  We stand for a redistribution of wealth.  We stand for all citizens to be disarmed.  We stand against the freedom of religion; and the freedom of speech.

The United States of America was founded on Biblical, Judeo/Christian principles, and we have been greatly blessed over the 236 years of being a Nation.  We have had an hedge around us by the hand of God; protecting us, keeping us, guiding us.  Now we are a “Progressive” (the liberal with a new name) Nation; under the protection of our government and its President.

Now, let us watch and see what the “Progressives” (the old liberal mentality) will do, and will not do.

In the mean time… I plan on living my life as I have been, with the exception of becoming a bolder, more confident Christian – a faithful follower of Jesus Christ – and speaking, for Christ, praying for our President; for his salvation, for his eyes to be opened concerning the way he leads this nation.  I will be praying for the Christians of the USA to put the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) back on, and stand with the holy Word of God in our hands and within our hearts.

Remember Christian.  The battle is not over until we hear Jesus say, “Come up here.”

The Top Five Reasons to Vote for President Obama

With the election coming up in a couple of months I thought I might look at some reasons one should vote for Obama.

The number one reason I thought of is economical, and has to do with the fact that he is already in office, so why waste another 200, 000 or more per year on retired Presidents salary.  I mean if we elect Romney, President Obama will still be getting an income from the American people, why not make him earn it?

The second reason I can think of is that the man likes going around making speeches, and turning peoples eyes upon himself.  He must really be an important fellow who demands such respect, and awe in the hearts and minds of those who adore him.  His promises are as good as his word; and we know how good that really is.

My third reason to vote for the President is because he wants to divide the wealth of our nation.  Under his ideas the rich will stop getting richer; the poor will stop getting poorer; and I am really sure that there will be more food on everyone’s tables, more gas in our cars, and more coal, oil, and electrical production.  Who among us would not like to have the same wealth as Bill Gates, Donald Trump, or the WalMart family?  Is that the way his ideas would work?

The fourth reason would be because he is such a good family man.  He is for everyone having the right to marry, even two men or two women.  I am that sure eventually he would be in favor of a man or woman marrying their own son or daughter; or their own sibling.  Is there anything wrong with that?

Sorry about the title; but I could not think of any more reasons to vote for President Obama in November.

Think About This before Voting…

I received this on an email group I am on.

Think About This Before You Vote …

Survival in the USA

Several years ago Hank Williams jr. sung a song with the words, “I’ve got a shotgun, a rifle and a four wheel drive; and a country boy can survive.”  That is the way I feel concerning the threats coming out of D.C.  I have a new definition for D.C.  (Dipstick Compartment)

The debt ceiling thing has nothing to do with individual survival.  If the debt rises or falls we can and will survive.  My survival is not dependent upon anything the D.C.’s do.  My survival is dependent upon my GOD and Savior Jesus Christ.  My life, my all, my finances come from His provisions; not D.C.’s

For all who may be interested; I do have a rifle.  I have three of them, and know how to use them.  I do not have a shotgun or a four wheel drive; but I can still survive.

How about you?  You can too.

Living here on the banks of Flat Creek we have access to fish, and there are other forms of wildlife to hunt, for sustenance, and life.  Oh, by they way I may seem cynical, but I am thankful for the freedom we still have in this country.  Where we can still tell our gov what we think of them; and without fear of reprisal.

We do need to be more concerned about personal debt.  We need to be out of it as soon as possible on the family level.  That will be a wonderful blessing for all.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding.”
